Sheila Jackson Lee must resign

Political correctness has run amuck and driven our country to a new low. In all its wisdom, ESPN has fired Asian-American reporter Robert Lee because his name bears such similarity to Confederate General Robert E. Lee. Give me a break. The left and its influence have grown to ridiculous heights.

But okay, if you want to play this game, I’ll play along too. It could be fun. Therefore, I call for the immediate and unconditional resignation of Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, representative for the 18th Congressional District.

Come on, Sheila, get with the program. Take responsibility for your name, a name that bears resemblance to TWO, count ’em, TWO Civil War generals, and resign. Think of all the poor souls your name offends and do the honorable thing.

They cried wolf one too many times

In 2010, the Republican said, “Give us a bigger majority in the House and we’ll repeal Obamacare.”

We did. They didn’t.

In 2012, they said, “Give us the Senate, and we’ll repeal Obamacare.”

We did. They didn’t.

In 2014, they said, Give us a bigger majority in the Senate, and we’ll repeal Obamacare.”

We did. They didn’t.

In 2016, they said, “Give us the White House, a bigger majority in the Senate, a wider majority in the House, and we’ll repeal Obamacare.”

We did. They haven’t.

If they don’t accomplish this one thing we sent them to Washington to do, I wonder if a new party, a truly conservative party will emerge. We have the beginnings in the Freedom Caucus, but then, hey, I’ve grown a bit cynical and no matter the party, they’re all just interested in keeping and growing their party above all else. They don’t truly care about the country.

Why Obama shafted Israel

Despite his protestations that his administration is a friend of Israel, his actions speak louder than his loudest words. When push came to shove, the UN got their way to put an end to Jewish settlements on the West Bank. Barack Obama could have stopped it, but he didn’t. Instead, he instructed our ambassador to that dubious body to abstain from voting, thus allowing the rest of the security council to have its way. The US might as well have voted for it.

The pundits on TV and radio are offering a myriad of suggestions as to why he perpetrated such an injustice upon such a strong ally in the Middle East and a democracy to boot. Simple. Donald J. Trump was elected as our next president and he has been slowly insinuating himself into the governmental process (as he should) and gathering power. This vote was the “in your face” parting shot of a sad little man trying to hold on to the last vestiges of power he sees slipping away. He wanted to make clear to Trump that “We only have one president at a time” and he’s IT.

To maintain his last little bit of power that will go away within the next month, he has taken away Israel’s means to bargain for peace and thrown a valued ally under the bus. However, he has elevated himself in the eyes of the Arab world, a world that wants to wipe Israel off the map. After he leaves office, I fully expect Obama to come clean and confess his true allegiances.

Obama as god

Not only does Barack Obama think he’s Emperor, but now he fashions himself a god. His recent remarks of Friday encouraged supporters of same-sex marriage to “help” people overcome their religious convictions, so they can move forward to a more progressive view of American equality.

The more the man talks the more certain I feel that he suffers from delusions of grandeur. Now he wants those with religious convictions to cast them aside in favor of a ruling by the State. In other words, he wants people who live their lives according to certain religious principles, set down by God, the Creator of all things, to make a choice: either displease God, or brace for ramifications from the State and the rest of society.

At first, it looked as though he might at least be trying to strike a conciliatory chord when he said “Opposition in some cases has been based on sincere and deeply held beliefs. All of us who welcome today’s news should be mindful of that fact. Recognize different viewpoints. Revere our deep commitment to religious freedom.”

Yes! I thought, finally he’s recognizing that it’s okay to have a different opinion, to espouse a different point of view. Then he immediately set that expectation aside when he added, “But today should also give us hope that on the many issues with which we grapple, often painfully, real change is possible.”

The man who sits in the Oval Office has no core principles himself, and therefore, cannot recognize that others may have them. He views them as of no more import than the latest fashion trend, something to be thrown out with yesterday’s trash in favor of today’s fresher trash. I remember only a few short months ago seeing orange trash cans, orange table covers, orange sheets, orange everything in stores. Now you can hardly find anything of that hue.

The more I thought about this, the more I realized that none of this is really about gays, any more than Obamacare was about delivering good, affordable health care to the American people. Rather, we must recognize this for what it is, a power grab of monumental proportions. Gays have allowed themselves to be used and abused by this administration in its efforts to totally tear down this country and all that it stands for; to transform this country as Obama promised during his first presidential campaign. No, the motivation behind all this is not about the rights of gays to marry, but growing the power of the federal government and about getting rid of the competition, the two big items standing in the way of a total takeover: the Constitution and the Church.

With this ruling on gay marriage, the Court has effectively trashed the Tenth Amendment. This sets precedent for the feds to insinuate themselves into every aspect of daily life, making states unimportant, redundant, and impotent. It doesn’t require a huge or active imagination to guess their next target. And with Obama deriding people of faith for their difference of opinion and opposition to gay marriage, he has declared war on all who hold their religious convictions dear.

Obama and his minions, including the Supreme Court, wish us to put the State first in our minds and hearts. They want us to conduct ourselves like the Borg, all of one mind, devoid of individuality, personality, or soul. They want us to rubber stamp every edict that comes down from Capitol Hill or the highest court in the land. They want us to internalize the aphorism so popularized by Star Trek when the Borg said, “Resistance is futile.”

I’m here to say I feel. I hope. I pray. I think. I am a unique individual and standing up for the truth is never futile. And Obama is not my god.
